You know that moment we see after every football game when the two starting quarterbacks meet and shake hands, usually exchanging a few words? Well that didn’t happen after the Patriots lost Super Bowl LII to the Philadelphia Eagles. Nick Foles and Tom Brady didn’t meet up. What most people saw was Tom Brady walking straight off the field without talking to anyone. Several social media posts called Tom Brady a sore loser.
So did Brady purposely not shake hands with Foles? Many believe that’s the case. Although we didn’t see Brady shake hands with the Eagles quarterback, Brady did shake hands with at least one Eagles player while on the field. Fletcher Cox was able to talk to the Patriots quarterback for just a moment. There were also reports that Brady met with Eagles rookie Derek Barnett in the walkway later on.
When you know that, it doesn’t look as bad for Brady, but that’s the problem. Most people don’t know that. Even knowing that, it still could be considered being a poor sport because he didn’t take the time to find Nick Foles. The fact that Tom Brady didn’t shake hands with Nick Foles gives every New England Patriots hater another reason to hate them.
Even though all this is all focused on Brady, it reflects badly on the entire team. When the face of your franchise does something like that, it looks bad for everyone. Anyone who hated the Patriots before likely hates them more now that they’ve seen Brady snub Nick Foles. What makes this even worse for Brady is what Nick Foles said about not meeting up. “I didn’t get to see Tom. I was looking for Tom. It got pretty crazy really fast. He’s one of the greatest of all time. Guy does it right. He has been unbelievable. He was unbelievable tonight. I can’t say enough about him.”
Foles wanted to meet up with Brady after the game. “I was looking for him.” To give Brady the benefit of the doubt, Foles did say things got crazy pretty fast, but at least Foles made an effort to look for him. He wanted to tell Brady about his respect for him, but I guess Brady doesn’t have that kind of respect for a back up quarterback who just beat him. At least that’s the perception of him now.
I understand that Brady was probably pissed he lost the Super Bowl. He had an all time great performance, but didn’t get a win. He threw for 505 yards and 3 TD’s, but his defense couldn’t get a stop! The Patriots were down almost the entire game. They had to constantly keep playing catch up because the Eagles offense couldn’t be stopped. When they finally did get a lead, the defense just let the Eagles go back down and score again.
We probably won’t know for a while if Brady really did snub Nick Foles or not. We may not ever know, but whether or not he did it on purpose, he did it. That leaves a bad taste in our mouths, especially to those who already hate Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
