Mount Rushmore is a giant monument dedicated to four United States Presidents who are said to be the greatest of all time. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln are four presidents that it would be hard to imagine today’s society without their impact. Since the 1850’s, Major League Baseball has held the title of Americas National Pastime, so obviously this sport has changed today’s society in so many ways that its hard to imagine what the world would be like if the sport was never created.
Although professional baseball has been around since 1839, there has only been 112 world series, with the most recent being in 2018. Currently there are 30 MLB teams. Throughout history, there have been thousands of people to step on the diamond and put on a uniform for a professional team. Some teams have been very successful in their franchise history, while a few teams have yet to even make a world series appearance.
Regardless of success, each team has players who define their franchise and would certainly earn a spot on their teams’ Mount Rushmore if that was a real thing. Some franchises have had so many players worthy of being on an MLB Mount Rushmore, but for this article we are just going to look at the four greatest players who define each MLB team throughout its franchise history.
Throughout the next few weeks, a few members of the Fourth Quarter Sports team will be digging in to each MLB teams deep history to make up our MLB Mount Rushmore list and vie reasoning why each player is on that list.
