2019 MLB Predictions Preview: Playoffs

Today is the day we will finally see the MLB season swing for the fences in America, as we already saw the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics open their season in Japan last week. We will also see the Boston Red Sox’ and New York Yankees play a pair in London on June 29th and 30th.

How will those games and all 162 games in the MLB season impact the teams’ standings and playoff picture? Let’s find out what each writer at Fourth Quarter Sports thinks in this article, but first, we’ll take a look at each person’s previews for the division that they did.

  2. Houston Astros 2. Milwaukee Brewers
  3. Cleveland Indians 3. Atlanta Braves
  4. Boston Red Sox 4. Philadelphia Phillies
  5. Los Angeles Angels 5. Colorado Rockies

Mickayeen’s Picks:

American League: National League:

  1. New York Yankees 1. St. Louis Cardinals
  2. Houston Astros 2.Colorado Rockies
  3. Cleveland Indians 3. Washington National
  4. Boston Red Sox 4. Milwaukee Brewers
  5. Los Angeles Angels 5. Philadelphia Phillies

Aman’s picks:

American League: National League:

  1. Houston Astros 1. Philadelphia Phillies
  2. Cleveland Indians 2. Los Angeles Dodgers
  3. New York Yankees 3. Chicago Cubs
  4. Boston Red Sox 4. Milwaukee Brewers

Adam’s picks:

American League: National League:

  1. New York Yankees 1. St. Louis Cardinals
  2. Houston Astros 2. Los Angeles Dodgers
  3. Cleveland Indians 3. Philadelphia Phillies
  4. Boston Red Sox 4. Chicago Cubs
  5. Oakland Athletics 5. Milwaukee Brewers

Rahim’s picks:

American League: National League:

  1. New York Yankees 1. Los Angeles Dodgers
  2. Houston Astros 2. Atlanta Braves
  3. Cleveland Indians 3. Milwaukee Brewers
  4. Boston Red Sox 4. Philadelphia Phillies
  5. Oakland Athletes 5. Colorado Rockies

Dennis’s picks:

American League: National League:

  1. Boston Red Sox 1. Colorado Rockies
  2. Houston Astros 2. Chicago Cubs
  3. Cleveland Indians 3. Philadelphia Phillies
  4. New York Yankees 4. Atlanta Braves
  5. Oakland A’s 5. St. Louis Cardinals

It’s funny how easy it seemed to be for all of us to agree on four of the five playoff teams in the American League as they all seem to be the favorites to make it. The one question is whether or not it will be the Angels or the A’s. The National League is all over the place! There are eight different teams that could be favorites to make the places, but did we get any of them right? Who will be closer?

Wild Card Games:

Dan’s Picks:

AL Wild Card: Red Sox over the Angels NL Wild Card: Phillies over Rockies

Mickayeen’s Picks:

AL Wild Card: Angels over Red Sox NL Wild Card: Phillies over Brewers

Aman’s Picks:

AL Wild Card: Red Sox over Angels NL Wild Card: Brewers over Cardinals

Adam’s Picks:

AL Wild Card: Red Sox over A’s NL Wild Card: Cubs over Brewers

Rahim’s Picks:

AL Wild Card: Red Sox over A’s NL Wild Card: Phillies over Rockies

Dennis’s Picks:

AL Wild Card: Yankees over A’s NL Wild Card: Braves over Cardinals

Everyone except for Dennis has the defending champions as a Wild Card and facing either the Angels or the A’s. The Phillies and Brewers seem to be favorites to advance from the Wild Card round into the Divisional Series

Divisional Series:

Dan’s ALDS: Yankees over Red Sox in five, Astros over Indians in three

Dan’s NLDS: Phillies over Dodgers in five, Braves over Brewers in five

Mickayeen’s ALDS: Angels over Yankees in 5, Indians over Astros in 5

Mickayeen’s NLDS: Cardinals over Phillies in 4, Rockies over Nationals in 5

Aman’s ALDS: Astros over Red Sox in 5, Indians over Yankees in 5

Aman’s NLDS: Phillies over Brewers in 5, Cubs over Dodgers in 5

Adam’s ALDS: Yankees over Red Sox in 5, Astros over Indians in 4

Adam’s NLDS: Cubs over Cardinals in 5, Phillies over Dodgers in 5

Rahim’s ALDS: Yankees over Red Sox in 5, Indians over Astros in 5

Rahim’s NLDS: Braves over Cardinals in 4, Dodgers over Phillies in 5

Dennis’s ALDS: Yankees over Red Sox in 5, Astros over Indians in 5

Dennis’s NLDS: Braves over Rockies in 5, Cubs over Phillies in 5

Now things are getting harder to follow as we narrow down the field. A divisional series with the biggest rivals in MLB history, Yankees – Red Sox is the favorite here. All eyes will be on the Phillies, who everyone has making the playoffs, with the addition of Bryce Harper and Andrew McCutchen and how far they can together.

Championship Series:

Dan’s Picks:

ALCS: Yankees over Astros in seven NLCS: Phillies over Braves in seven

Mickayeen’s Picks:

ALCS: Indians over Angels in seven NLCS: Rockies over Cardinals in six

Aman’s Picks:

ALCS: Astros over Indians in six NLCS: Phillies over Cubs in five

Adam’s Picks:

ALCS: Astros over Yankees in seven NLCS: Cubs over Phillies in six

Rahim’s Picks:

ALCS: Yankees over Indians in five NLCS: Braves over Dodgers in six

Dennis’s Picks:

ALCS: Astros over Yankees in seven NLCS: Cubs over Braves in six

Are you still following us? The Astros are seemingly the favorite to win in the American League, but we are still all over the place with the National League. Can anyone in the National League challenge the Astros or Yankees, or will it be another American league team winning the title for the third straight year?

World Series:

Dan’s: Yankees over Phillies in seven, a rematch of 2009 with the same result.

  • Young team Vs. Young team and Harper does well with the short porch in Yankee Stadium, but ultimately the Yankees bullpen followed by Judge, Stanton, and Sanchez leading the way will be too much for any team to stop.

Mickayeen’s: Rockies over Indians in six

Aman’s: Phillies over Astros in seven

Adam’s: Cubs over Astros in seven

Rahim’s: Braves over Yankees in seven

  • Ultimate David versus Goliath match up in terms of the amount of success each clubhouse has had over their history. Plus it’s a rematch in the making of 23 years ago that the Braves have held onto. It’s now time!

Dennis’s: Astros over Cubs in six
